Choosing The Right Auto Shop

If you have a Starlet Toyota or a used Subaru then you know the importance of finding the right repair shop for your car.  Japanese autos are becoming more and more popular with the world but it is surprising to find out that many auto shops have no idea how to work on these vehicles.  If you have to find a new auto shop for your vehicle due to circumstances beyond your control with your old one, here are a few things you need to think about when looking.

1. Will the new shop give you a written estimate on how much it is going to cost to repair your car?  You should always get an estimate with both your signature and the shop’s signature so that if you choose them to work on your car they will abide by the terms they put into writing.

2. Does the auto shop offer you a warranty in writing on the parts or labor?  This warranty should be posted somewhere visible in the auto shop or the shops personnel should provide you with the warranty in writing.

3. Is the shop area and the customer waiting area clean and orderly?  A clean and orderly shop and waiting area are signs of a business that takes their work and their customers seriously.  There is nothing worse than seeing a shop that is disorganized or a waiting room that makes you wish you had gloves on before handling anything.

4. Are the employees courteous towards you?  You can find out a lot about an auto shop just by picking up the phone and calling them to see how they will treat you as a customer.  If they are rude to you, consider another shop.  These people make their money from servicing your car.  They can afford to be nice.

5. Does the auto shop have their credentials on display?  Credentials show you what kind of training the mechanics have and if the shop is part of any type of recognized auto organization.  These credentials are a sign of professionalism.

6. Are they willing to give you a list of customers’ testimonials or references?  Any shop worth its salt will be more than happy to put you in contact with their customers, and what others have to say about the business will go a long way into helping you find a good auto shop for your used Toyota Hilux Surf or Toyota Starlet for sale.
